PIWI varieties
For several decades, new grape varieties have been bred that are able to reject fungus deseases and therefore require less plant protection. Recently, these fungus-resistant ("Piwi") grape varieties are increasingly penetrating the consciousness of wine consumers. No worries: Within the next years, they will not replace Grüner Veltliner, Riesling or Blauer Zweigelt, but they will increase in importnance. "Donauriesling", "Donauveltliner", "Blütenmuskateller" & Co. are an essential contribution of the wine industry to more sustainability and less plant protection. WINZER KREMS has been dedicated to this up-and-coming grape variety category for ten years now and is also a member of the PIWI Austria working group.
