Sandgrube 13

Award-Winning Architecture at WINZER KREMS

Sustainable, resource-efficient and architecturally impressive – the renovation of Sandgrube 13 was recognised as an exemplary construction project.

In October 2025, the architektur krammer gmbh from Krems received the “Recognition for Exemplary Buildings” award from the province of Lower Austria for the planning and management of the comprehensive structural renovations at WINZER KREMS - Sandgrube 13.
The architectural firm was responsible for the concept, planning and construction management of the modernisation of the warehouse logistics, bottlling plant and parts of the fermentation and storage cellar – in a sustainable, resource-saving manner and in harmony with the cultivated landscape.
The visible architecture with loess-coloured exposed concrete façades, green roofs and the use of renewable energy set standards for sustainable construction.
