Ecological responsibility

We depend on nature and nature depends on us. We are aware of our ecological responsibility.

Organic agriculture

Working in harmony with nature has been characterising viticulture in Krems for centuries. The amount of organically cultivated vineyards at WINZER KREMS is constantly increasing, and the organic production is certified by the LACON Institute.

PIWI varieties

For several decades, new grape varieties were bred to be enabled to reject fungus deseases and therefore require less plant protection is required. More and more wine consumers get interested into this new fungus-resistant ("Piwi") grape varieties. Within the next years "Donauriesling", "Donauveltliner"and "Blütenmuskateller" will get more important, however the Grüner Veltliner, Riesling or Blauer Zweigelt will not get replaced by them. This is an essential contribution of the wine industry for more sustainability and less plant protection. WINZER KREMS has been dedicated to this up-and-coming grape variety for ten years now and is also a member of the PIWI Austria working group.
